Domestication and Foreignization in Translating Cultural Terms from English into Kurdish in George Orwell’s Animal Farm

— Translation of culturally specific terms is considered a challenging activity. The current study explores the Kurdish translations cultural found in novel Animal farm written by George Orwell 1945 and translated three different translators. particularly attempts to identify type according Newmark’s (1988) taxonomy. In addition, uses Venuti's (1995) strategies domestication foreignization translator’s choices, Newmark's translation procedures operationalize those two strategies. results reveal that all five main categories were discovered including ecology, material culture (artefact), social (work leisure), organizations as well gestures habits. Material was most frequent category data. translators employed various procedures, with equivalent being common deletion least. Furthermore, translators' tendencies towards vary. Translator 1 demonstrates greater inclination foreignization, while Translators 2 3 lean more domestication, notable similarity their preferences.
